'Even if you are told that you do not ‘fit the mould’, you are everything you need to be and exactly where you are meant to be.'

How did you get started in the modelling industry? Did anything or anyone in particular inspire you to pursue a modelling career?

When I was little, I used to love dressing up with my friends and making our parents sit down to watch us model. It was something I did for fun, but I never considered pursuing modelling. I was introduced to a teen pageant when I was 15, and decided to enter because it sounded fun. I made it through as a National Finalist and went for my first ever photoshoot, which was followed by a runway show. I truly felt as though I had found my passion, and it was one of the best feelings in the world. From then onwards, I continued to practise modelling, and put myself out there. It has not been the easiest journey, and I have encountered many closed doors, but I know that what is for you will never pass you by. Now I am signed with Vivien’s Modelling Management and I couldn’t be happier doing what I love, and having such supportive management.

You radiate such a joyful and calm energy! Do you focus much on your over-well being? Do you follow any mindfulness and/or wellness practices?

Thank you, I do focus on my overall wellbeing, which includes my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. I am a firm believer in praying through every situation you face and holding onto faith that everything in life serves a purpose. Meditating on the Bible, surrounding myself with like-minded people, and listening to wholesome podcasts really grounds me. I’m very mindful of the content that I consume and how I speak towards myself. I try my best to foster an environment of self-love, which can be easier said than done, but it is so worth it. No matter how busy life is, I always make sure to invest in myself and my wellbeing.

We would love to learn more about your life outside of modelling! Do you have another job? What do you enjoy doing the most in your spare time?

I currently work as an Educational Assistant (EA), where I get to work in classrooms with children who have special needs. I love what I do for work and that I can help create an engaging and supportive space for children to learn in. I am also a law student, and I am very drawn to human rights. When I am not at work or Uni, I’ll likely be at the gym or spending time with my loved ones. I love bonding with my friends and family, especially over good food and laughter.

Imagine you’re stranded on a deserted island and can only bring one beauty product with you. Which beauty product would you choose?

I would bring an eyebrow pencil. Good eyebrows can really put together someone’s look. And when you look good, you feel good.

What do you enjoy most about being a model? Are there any specific aspects of the industry that you find rewarding?

I love getting to work and collaborate with different people to bring a vision to life. It is so rewarding putting in the work behind the camera and getting to see that work reflected in the final photos. I also love that there are always tips and techniques to learn so that I am continually growing as a model.

You looked incredible in all the styles we shot on you! Did you have a favourite INC swim piece?

I loved them all, but my absolute favourite was the Ecuador knot bandeau paired with the curve pant. The pattern is so captivating and beautiful. I felt so confident wearing that set!

Your social media tells us you are the founder of @the_faithpage! Tell us more about this platform?

I created the Faith Page as a way of sharing positivity, love, and encouragement to others. My name means faith in Shona, which is a Zimbabwean language. My Christian faith is a large part of my life, and it continues to guide me every day. I am continually being poured into and reminded that I am loved, valued, and always able to grow. The Faith Page is designed to pour into others and remind them of these very things too.

Your skin and hair is so beautiful! How do you continuously keep up your glow? Any beauty hacks or are you just naturally blessed!

Thank you, it has been a journey and a half! I used to struggle with severe acne scarring and I felt very insecure without makeup. I had to work on building a lot of self-love before I saw a difference with my skin. It’s true that you glow from within first. I did finally find a routine that works for me, and I would advise people to take note of how their skin and hair respond to certain products/routines. Don’t use products just because they’re ‘trendy’, find out what makes your skin and hair type thrive. But a non-negotiable is that you should always moisturise and wear sunscreen.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to your 15-year-old self?

I would tell my 15-year-old self that you are enough. Even if you are told that you do not ‘fit the mould’, you are everything you need to be and exactly where you are meant to be. Society may not deem you as the beauty standard, but God was so intentional when He made you. Don’t change to fit into society’s standards because that standard is always changing, just as every trend comes and goes (speaking of trends, throw out those galaxy print leggings!). The right opportunities will come your way when the time is right. For now, just continue having fun and standing in your truth.

Are you looking forward to the rest of 2023? Have you set any personal or professional goals?

I am looking forward to the rest of 2023! The year started off very intensely, but I believe brighter days are yet to come. I would love to model more this year and be booked for modelling jobs that allow me to travel. I would also love to feature in my first TV commercial. My personal goals are to continue spending time with my loved ones, to do well at Uni, and to reach my financial goals. A lot of my goals for this year are aimed at laying a foundation for the years to come.
